We have a plan to build a bridge to the future
In many ways, Phelps County represents just the kind of abundance and productivity that characterizes the Midwest. Our towns and villages are open, welcoming communities, with a rich heritage tying them to the land. Our people share bedrock values of integrity and personal character. We understand what it means to work hard and invest.
But the future prosperity of Phelps County is not something that’s assured. Phelps County like nearly all of rural Nebraska is gradually losing population and unless something is done to reverse that trend, life here will certainly change but not for the better.
The Prosperity Project is a plan to reverse that trend in Phelps County. It’s a plan to help our existing businesses expand and prosper and a plan to bring new business and industry to town. It’s a plan to create new jobs and attract new workers—including our alumni—into the community to fill them. It’s a plan to bridge the gap between the economy we have today and the kind of economy we expect to have in the future.
It’s an important issue and it deserves your attention and support.
